Rachel Brosamle, Ph.D.
Dr. Rachel Brosamle (Bro-sam-lee) received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco. She has worked in community mental health and at multiple university counseling centers in Southern California and the Bay Area. Dr. Brosamle completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the University of Southern California and her postdoctoral fellowship at Loyola Marymount University.
As the former Counseling Director at Otis College of Art and Design, Dr. Brosamle ran the counseling service for undergrad and graduate students and provided training and consultation to the college. In addition to her private practice, she currently enjoys supervising Associates at Culver Psychotherapy.
Dr. Brosamle is trained in evidence-based treatments for anxiety, phobias, OCD, and depression. She prioritizes the client-therapist relationship to create a safe environment for growth and insight. Her therapeutic approach uses a multicultural lens and integrates relational-psychodynamic and third-wave cognitive behavioral therapies. Dr. Brosamle’s background in liberal arts, training as a yoga instructor, and research and experience with mindfulness meditation bring a holistic layer to her approach. All of these techniques are used together to address the whole person rather than a one-size fits all approach.
Therapy with Dr. Brosamle focuses on identifying unhealthy patterns, increasing coping and self-care, and exploring salient relationship, cultural, and identity issues and themes. Therapy goals are discussed and agreed upon between client and therapist so that client and therapist have a shared vision for the therapeutic work.
Dr. Brosamle enjoys working with adolescents, couples, and adults. In addition to her specialty in working with anxiety disorders and trauma, she is passionate about working with individuals on adjustment and life changes, performance and creativity, relationship difficulties, and identity development.
Dr. Brosamle is a licensed psychologist by the California State Board of Psychology (PSY 28443).
